A social media user has stirred the internet with a heartbreaking tale of his friend who blindly sacrificed his future for his wife and got the worst shocking of his life in return.
According to him, “My friend made a huge sacrifice for the woman he loved, hoping they would build a better future together. Unfortunately, things did not turn out the way he expected.
His wife studied nursing at a university in Nigeria, and my friend was the one who sponsored her education. After she graduated, they got married and started planning their future together.
At some point, she convinced him that travelling to the UK would give her better opportunities, especially as a nurse. She assured him that once she settled down and found her feet, she would arrange for him to join her as a dependant.
Trusting his wife and believing in the future they had planned together, my friend decided to make a painful sacrifice. He sold his own share of the family land and gave her the money to travel abroad.
Luckily, she secured a job as a caretaker and began her new life in the UK. My friend stayed back in Nigeria, patiently waiting for the day his wife would fulfil her promise and bring him over.
But one year passed, then two, and eventually five years went by.
Throughout those years, my friend continued to hope that his wife had not forgotten the promises they made when she was leaving Nigeria.
Then something happened that left him completely heartbroken.
After five years in the UK, his wife brought her younger brother over to join her.
Imagine how my friend must have felt. The man who sponsored her education, sold his land to finance her journey, and sacrificed his own comfort for their future was still in Nigeria, while her younger brother had now joined her abroad.
When my friend confronted her and asked why she had brought her brother over but had not made any effort to bring her own husband, her response was shocking.
She reportedly told him to send her his account number so she could refund the bride price he had paid.
In other words, rather than address his concerns about their marriage and the promises she had made, she offered to return the bride price and seemingly bring their union to an end.
My friend never imagined that the woman he invested so much in would one day make him feel like a stranger in his own marriage.”
