“The church is your pastor’s real estate investment, and what you should give your own children as their real estate investment, you have handed over to somebody else who will give his own children.”
Daddy Freeze has sparked a wave of reactions online after advising landlords in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria to be cautious about renting out their houses or undeveloped plots of land to churches.
In a video making the rounds on social media, Daddy Freeze claimed that although churches often pay higher rent compared to regular tenants, some property owners may face difficulties when trying to reclaim their properties in the future.
According to him, landlords risk getting involved in prolonged disputes over properties they initially rented out for religious activities.
Addressing property owners, he said:
“This is for all landlords in Lagos and even across the country. Stop renting your houses out to churches, stop lending your land out to churches because, let me tell you the funny thing, they pay better than most tenants, but they will never leave. After a while, they want to take over your property.”
Daddy Freeze stressed that his comments were not directed at every church, but alleged that the issue was common among many religious organisations.
He further warned landlords against giving out vacant land for church use, claiming that some property owners could eventually struggle to regain control of their assets.
“They go collect your property. They will come as tenants, and before you know it, they take over your whole property. Stop renting your house, especially your empty land, to church.”
The outspoken media personality described such arrangements as a decision some landlords might later regret, comparing it to giving away their property as a religious offering.
“If you rent your empty land to church, just know say you don’t use am do tithe and offering. Any land or house you rent to a church has become your tithe and offering. You no go see am collect back.”
He also encouraged landlords who had experienced similar situations to share their stories in the comment section of the video.
“Anybody who gets experience may drop them under this comment section.”
Daddy Freeze advised property owners to consider the future of their families before making decisions involving valuable assets. He argued that properties should be preserved for children and not allowed to become tied up in ownership disputes.
While making his point, he referenced Bible passages from Acts 7:48 and Acts 17:24, stating that God does not dwell in buildings made by humans.
“This thing I’m saying, I’m giving you a life-saving tip now. You might not like me, but listen carefully. Your property is meant for your children to use, not for pastor to give your own children to hell because that church building is not the house of God.”
He added:
“The Bible is very clear, Acts chapter 7 verse 48 and Acts chapter 17 verse 24. God does not live in man-made temples.”
Daddy Freeze concluded by arguing that some landlords may unknowingly be transferring valuable assets meant for their families into the hands of religious organisations.
