The spokesman of the Buhari Campaign Organisation in the 2019 election, Festus Keyamo SAN, has urged PDP presidential candidate in the election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar against jeopardizing the neutrality of the Supreme Court.
Keyamo stated this in a tweet on Friday in reaction to Atiku’s stance on the Supreme Court judgement on the Osun State gubernatorial election.
The court had declared the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, as duly-elected Governor of the state, defeating the PDP and its candidate, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, who challenged the decision of the Court of Appeal that also affirmed Oyetola’s victory.
Reacting to the judgement in a tweet, Atiku wrote, “Finally, I urge the nation’s judiciary to take a pulse of the nation and reflect it.
“In their hands, God has placed a great responsibility. The duty to ensure that justice is done, irrespective of the pressure to do otherwise, by the powers that be.”
Responding to the tweet, Keyamo reminded Atiku that the Supreme Court administers justice based on law and not based on “pulse of the nation” as the former Vice President advised.
He equally reminded Atiku about the Supreme Court judgement that declared the APC ineligible to field candidates in the 2019 general election in Zamfara State, paving the way for the PDP candidate to emerge governor of the state.
The senior lawyer wrote, “Your Excellency, with great respect, this comment is beneath you.
“The Supreme Court administers justice based on law and not on the ‘pulse of the nation’.
“This is a veiled attempt to blackmail the S/Court. The Supreme Court will always do justice ‘even if the heavens fall’. Remember Zamfara?”
